All
students are
expected to provide
their own
instrument. There
will be a few
available for
beginners to use, as
well as cello and
bass students.
These will require a
usage fee of $45.
Please see Ms.
Wilson to arrange
this.
*All students must
replace strings
YEARLY.
(If you are using a
school instrument it
is included in your
usage fee.) Please
keep your old
strings in your case
for emergency use.

what kind of strings
to purchase, please
see Ms. Wilson.
***Cello and Bass
players who own
their own
instruments do not
have to bring them
to class, but will
need them for
COMBINED after
school rehearsals
and concerts. All
players must have
their own rock stop
for performances.
ROSIN
The
type of rosin you
use depends on the
type of strings you
have. Violins/violas
need hard rosin;
cellos need medium
rosin, and basses
need soft (sticky)
rosin. Students
with steel strings
(Super Sensitive)
should use the
Hildersine rosin.
Students with gut or
synthetic strings
(Dominant) should
use either Hill
Light or dark,
Thomastik, or
Bernardel. Bass
students should use
Pops, but be sure to
use it sparingly.
